Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has decided to complete a move to Atlético Madrid during the ongoing winter transfer window.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Nigeria international has informed all interested parties of his choice, making it clear that Atlético Madrid remain his preferred option, despite Fenerbahçe submitting an improved wage offer.
A verbal agreement is already in place for a deal valued at around €40 million, with the remaining formalities expected to be concluded soon as Atlético close in on the signing.
Lookman is set to leave Atalanta after drawing interest from several clubs, including Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, but the Spanish side have now won the race for his signature.
The switch would represent a major step forward in Lookman’s career, with Atlético Madrid set to strengthen their attack by adding his speed, flexibility and goal threat to Diego Simeone’s squad.
