Lens booked their place in the Coupe de France quarter-finals on Wednesday with a 4-2 victory over Troyes, while Lyon needed a late Endrick moment to overcome Ligue 2 side Laval.
Florian Sotoca and Andrija Bulatovic were both on target, while Abdallah Sima struck twice as surprise Ligue 1 title challengers Lens came through their last-16 clash.
Second-tier leaders Troyes briefly threatened a comeback when Martin Adeline equalised before the break, but three goals in an eight-minute spell early in the second half put Pierre Sage’s men firmly in control.
Lyon, meanwhile, were made to work hard at home against struggling Laval until a flash of individual brilliance from Real Madrid loanee Endrick broke the deadlock.
After a driving run from midfielder Pavel Sulc, the 19-year-old Brazilian powered past a challenge and rifled a shot from the edge of the area to score in the 80th minute.
The strike was Endrick’s fifth goal in five appearances for Lyon since his arrival from the Santiago Bernabeu in late December.
Lyon sealed their 11th straight win in all competitions when Laval goalkeeper Maxime Hautbois inadvertently diverted Afonso Moreira’s effort into his own net deep into stoppage time.
Elsewhere, Nice produced a dramatic turnaround to defeat Montpellier 3-2 in their last-16 encounter.
The hosts were 2-0 down midway through the second half before Kail Boudache reduced the deficit with 18 minutes remaining.
Antoine Mendy struck in the 89th minute to seemingly force extra-time, only for Sofiane Diop to curl home a stunning winner seven minutes into added time.
Lorient progressed past fellow Ligue 1 side Paris FC with a 2-0 win, aided by Noah Cadiou’s second-half goal and a late own goal from Moustapha Mbow.
Toulouse also advanced after edging Ligue 2 outfit Amiens 1-0, with Yann Gboho scoring the decisive goal six minutes before half-time.
