Manchester United have offered Kai Rooney a new contract as part of their latest intake of academy scholars.

Kai, the son of club legend Wayne Rooney, is among 14 young players handed scholarship offers by United, according to reports. Accepting the deal would put him on course to sign a professional contract with the club when he turns 17 next year.

The proposed agreement is said to be worth around £50,000 per year, with an additional annual signing-on bonus. However, the Rooney family are yet to decide whether to accept the terms.

Kai operates in attacking roles, featuring either through the middle as a striker or out wide.

Also included in United’s list of scholarship offers is Jacey Carrick, the son of current United manager Michael Carrick.
