Arsenal have stepped up their pursuit of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes following revelations that the Brazilian playmaker has asked to depart St James’ Park.

Mikel Arteta is determined to reinforce his central options and identifies the 28-year-old as a perfect complement to Declan Rice in the center of the pitch.

Guimaraes, whose current deal runs until 2028, has served as a pivotal player for Tyneside since his 2022 arrival from Lyon, but he is now understood to be hunting for a new chapter and regular Champions League participation.

Newcastle are deeply hesitant to part ways with their skipper after already seeing Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon leave, though dialogues concerning his status have commenced.

The Gunners are currently pondering a formal bid, with an offer in the region of £60 million anticipated to initiate talks.
