Cole Palmer produced another statement performance as Chelsea swept past Wolves 3-1 at Molineux, with the 21-year-old setting two club and league records in a ruthless first-half display.
Chelsea struck early when Palmer opened the scoring in the 12th minute, coolly converting from the penalty spot after Matt Doherty brought down Joao Pedro. No fuss, no drama—just business.
History repeated itself before the break. Joao Pedro was again fouled inside the box, and again Palmer stepped up. Same result. Same corner. Wolves keeper beaten twice, confidence shattered.
The hat-trick goal was the pick of the bunch. A slick move starting from Robert Sanchez worked its way through Enzo Fernández, who drove forward before releasing Marc Cucurella. The Spaniard’s cutback found Palmer, who finished clinically to complete a devastating first-half treble.
The result sealed a fourth straight Premier League win under Liam Rosenior and kept Chelsea’s upward momentum firmly intact.
But the bigger story was Palmer himself.
The England international became the only player in Premier League history to score three first-half hat-tricks, adding Wolves to previous victims Everton and Brighton.
He also broke new ground at Chelsea, becoming the club’s outright leading scorer of Premier League hat-tricks with four, moving clear of club legends Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
