Cristiano Ronaldo’s week-long absence from Al-Nassr matches has taken a dramatic turn, with details of his conditions for ending the standoff now emerging.
The 41-year-old forward has missed Al-Nassr’s last two fixtures, opting not to travel with the squad despite remaining active in training. His absence has sparked intense speculation in Saudi Arabia, now fueled by claims from former Al-Nassr legal director Saad Al-Subaie.
According to Al-Subaie, Ronaldo has outlined eight conditions for resuming full involvement with the team — four relating to the current season and four aimed at next season.
For the remainder of this campaign, Ronaldo is reportedly demanding reduced interference from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) in the club’s day-to-day football affairs, while still ensuring strong financial backing in the transfer market. He is also pushing for the swift reinstatement of club CEO José Semedo and sporting director Simão Coutinho, both of whom were suspended last year.
In addition, the Portuguese star wants firm action taken against individuals he believes are undermining the club’s leadership, while insisting that the PIF provide financial support without direct involvement in team operations.
Looking ahead to next season, Ronaldo’s demands become even more strategic. He wants Al-Nassr to significantly strengthen the squad with high-quality signings, similar to moves made by rival Saudi clubs. He is also keen for head coach Jorge Jesus to be given a contract extension to maintain stability and continuity in the club’s long-term project.
Ronaldo is further seeking greater clarity over the extent and structure of the PIF’s future backing of the club.
The tension reportedly stems from frustration over Al-Nassr’s lack of major signings during the mid-season transfer window. Ronaldo notably skipped the match against Al-Riyadh on deadline day before also missing the clash with Al-Ittihad.
While he has continued training with his teammates, uncertainty now hangs over his future at the club. One thing is clear: Ronaldo isn’t sulking — he’s negotiating. And at this stage of his career, he still expects the project to match his ambition.
