Dutch journalist Mike Verweij believes Ajax could target Liverpool head coach Arne Slot this summer.
According to Verweij, newly appointed Ajax sporting director Jordi Cruyff is keen on Slot and may try to tempt him away from Anfield and back to the Eredivisie once the season concludes.
“Is Dick Schreuder the leading candidate for Ajax next summer? What you hear is that Jordi Cruyff is very impressed by Arne Slot,” Verweij said on De Telegraaf’s podcast.
“You never know how things develop after this season. Cruyff could decide to test the waters with Slot. That would not make sense for Peter Bosz, because he has already said Cruyff does not need to call him.”
Verweij also suggested Ajax may look elsewhere if a move for Slot proves unrealistic.
“I also would not be surprised if Cruyff looks towards Spain and identifies a Spanish coach instead,” he added.
