Celtics’ Midseason Acquisition Nikola Vucevic Suffers Setback: Latest Injury Update After Fractured Finger Diagnosis

The Boston Celtics recently welcomed back Jayson Tatum from a lengthy recovery due to a torn Achilles tendon, only to have Nikola Vucevic sidelined shortly after with a fractured ring finger. Vucevic, who was acquired in a midseason trade with the Chicago Bulls, has been out of commission, and it has come to light that Anfernee Simons, the player the Celtics traded away to secure Vucevic, has been dealing with his own injury struggles.

Simons, who logged 49 games with the Celtics, has seen limited action with the Bulls, suiting up for just six games due to a persistent left wrist injury. His last appearance was nearly a month ago, and a recent update on his condition indicates that he will be out for at least 10 more days before potentially returning to the court. According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, Simons and teammate Jaden Ivey, who is nursing a left knee injury, are both progressing in their recoveries. Siegel noted that Simons will undergo another evaluation in 10 days, while Ivey will be reassessed in a week.

Although this injury issue has become more pronounced during his tenure with the Bulls, reports suggest that Simons was already battling this ailment during his time with the Celtics. However, it has clearly become a more significant concern for him since joining the Bulls, resulting in a substantial amount of missed playing time.

In related news, Vucevic underwent surgery for his injury on March 7 and is slated for a re-evaluation towards the end of the month. The team is hopeful that he will be able to return to action before the playoffs, but they will not rush his recovery if he is not fully healed.
