In its report published Wednesday (11), the Ligue 1 Disciplinary Committee confirmed that the red card shown to Endrick during Nantes’ clash with Lyon last Saturday (7) has been rescinded and downgraded to a second yellow card.
“After reviewing the footage and examining the referee’s report recommending the withdrawal of the red card, the Disciplinary Committee decided to cancel the straight red and replace it with a second yellow card, which still results in a dismissal,” the statement read. “Consequently, the committee imposes a one-match suspension.”
The Brazilian forward will therefore miss next weekend’s fixture against Nice but will be eligible to return for the encounter with Strasbourg, as a direct red card would have triggered a longer suspension ruling him out of both matches.
Endrick was cautioned just two minutes into the contest. In the 61st minute, referee Mathieu Vernice initially showed him a second yellow card before being summoned to review the incident via VAR. After consulting the monitor, the official withdrew the booking and issued a straight red instead — a decision that has now been reversed.
