Jesse Lingard remains without a club after entering free agency and has now been turned down by former side West Ham United.

Lingard found the net 19 times in 67 appearances for FC Seoul, but his spell in South Korea came to an end in December, opening the door for a possible return to European football.

The midfielder spent close to two years with the K League outfit after arriving in 2024, yet has been unable to secure a move in the past month despite a number of teams searching for experienced options in midfield.

According to talkSPORT, West Ham were one of several Premier League clubs who passed on the opportunity to bring Lingard back during the closing stages of the transfer window.

Instead, manager Nuno Espirito Santo chose to strengthen his squad by signing former Wolves winger Adama Traore, completing a deal valued at just £2 million.

A reunion with the Hammers has long been mooted, but with the winter window now closed, a return to the London Stadium appears unlikely for the 33-year-old as he approaches the twilight of his playing career.

Reports suggest the ex-England and Manchester United man is now considering another move abroad, with transfer windows in certain leagues outside Europe still open for the coming weeks.

Lingard currently finds himself in a similar position to fellow English free agents Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Raheem Sterling, who may also be forced to wait until the summer before securing their next move.
