Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted uncertainty over Bernardo Silva’s future, with the midfielder’s contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Bernardo has been linked with a potential free transfer to Juventus, but Guardiola has not given up hope of persuading the Portuguese international to remain at the Etihad beyond this campaign.

Speaking ahead of City’s FA Cup fourth-round tie against Salford City, Guardiola confirmed he is awaiting clarity from the 29-year-old.

“I have no idea,” Guardiola said. “I told him, ‘When you make a decision, let me know.’”

With his deal running down, Bernardo is free to negotiate with overseas clubs, leaving City in a familiar position as they attempt to retain one of Guardiola’s most trusted and versatile performers.
