Bayern Munich re-established a six-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga with a composed 3-0 victory away to Werder Bremen, as Harry Kane struck twice in the opening half.
Following Borussia Dortmund’s 4-0 win over Mainz that had cut the gap to three points, Bayern responded emphatically, controlling proceedings from the outset. Leon Goretzka added a third in the 70th minute to seal a routine triumph.
Kane’s double took his tally to 26 goals in 22 league appearances this term and 41 across all competitions, 13 of which have come from the penalty spot. Bayern were without the suspended Michael Olise for the first time in 89 matches in all competitions since his arrival from Crystal Palace in 2024.
Bremen initially held firm, but Kane opened the scoring after 22 minutes from the penalty spot following a VAR review that determined Lennart Karl had been brought down inside the area. It marked the third successive match in which the England captain had handed Bayern the lead from 12 yards.
Three minutes later, Kane doubled the advantage, guiding a low effort in off the right post from the edge of the box.
Bayern were dealt a concern at the interval as captain Manuel Neuer was withdrawn due to a recurrence of a calf issue. Bremen threatened briefly after the break, with Marco Gruell striking the post, but Goretzka ended any doubt by sweeping home with 20 minutes remaining.
Elsewhere, Hoffenheim strengthened their grip on third place with a 3-0 home win over Freiburg courtesy of goals from Fisnik Asllani, Ozan Kabak and Valentin Gendrey. After finishing just above the relegation play-off spot last season, the village club are now on course for Champions League qualification, having lost only twice in their last 16 league outings — both against Bayern and Dortmund.
Bayer Leverkusen moved into fourth with a 4-0 victory over St Pauli. Jarell Quansah and Patrik Schick struck early before Edmond Tapsoba and Ernest Poku completed the scoring in the second half. Stuttgart can displace Leverkusen from fourth by avoiding defeat against Cologne.
Eintracht Frankfurt recorded a 3-0 home win over Borussia Moenchengladbach, delivering Albert Riera his first victory in charge, while Hamburg overturned a deficit to beat Union Berlin 3-2 and climb into ninth.
