Christopher Nkunku told ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ that at no point did he consider leaving AC Milan during the last winter transfer window, reaffirming his commitment to the ‘Rossoneri’.
Christopher Nkunku joined AC Milan last summer after the ‘Rossoneri’ reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign the French forward on a permanent transfer for €43 million.
During his first few months in Italy, the former Blues player has made 20 appearances for the Serie A side, scoring six goals and providing two assists so far this season.
During the winter transfer window, there was speculation about a possible departure for Nkunku, although the striker himself recently denied in comments to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ that he had considered leaving the club during the last winter transfer window.
“I never thought about leaving, that’s the point. My agent never spoke to me about offers, so to me they were just rumors. And he knows me well, I never asked him to look elsewhere or talk to other clubs because I only wanted to be ready to perform here at Milan,” he said.
On his goal drought in Serie A, he said: “I tried to stay calm because I know my quality and I knew the goals would come. It was just a matter of time and fitness. If you play as a forward, you have to score, it’s your job. I think I helped the team in other ways, but when you get an assist or a goal, it’s more visible. Still, the most important thing is winning and doing what Allegri asks.”
Finally, he explained the differences between the Serie A and the rest of Europe’s big leagues. “Here teams are tactically very well prepared, they don’t take many risks, and they don’t give you space.”
