Kai Rooney continued his rapid rise through the ranks with a four-goal display for Manchester United’s U16s on Saturday.

The young forward hit all four in a thrilling 6-4 victory over Norwich City, underlining why he is so highly rated at Carrington.

Rooney only stepped up to U18 level last month, making his debut in United’s FA Youth Cup win against Derby County.

Reacting on social media, he wrote: “PL Cup semi-final. 6-4 win vs Norwich. Four ⚽️.”

He also posted a photo of his No.7 shirt laid out on the dressing-room floor after the match.

Having recently turned 16, Rooney has been offered scholarship terms by United and is widely expected to sign in the near future.
