Manchester United have confirmed the proposed location for their future home, an ambitious infrastructure project aimed at constructing the largest stadium in the United Kingdom.

The club anticipates that the development will generate 48,000 jobs within the local area, provide 15,000 new residences, and contribute an estimated £7.3 billion annually to the UK economy.

The facility is planned to be situated roughly 350 meters north-west of the current Old Trafford venue, serving as the focal point for what is being termed the “Stadium District.”

Collette Roche, Manchester United’s CEO of New Stadium Development, described the initiative as a way to respect the storied history of the existing ground while embracing a major modernization.

“The unveiling of the Wharfside Masterplan represents another pivotal step in our mission to establish a premier world-class home for Manchester United, centered within a transformative district for Trafford and the Greater Manchester area,” Roche remarked.

“In partnership with our stakeholders, we have a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build a landmark that delivers long-term advantages for our fans, the local community, and the broader region for many years to come.

“The site for the proposed stadium is ideally positioned right next to Old Trafford. This allows us to uphold the traditions, heritage, and matchday customs that our supporters hold dear, while simultaneously offering the infrastructure and connectivity needed to provide an elite fan experience.

“We are dedicated to constructing a top-tier stadium in collaboration with our supporters, not merely for them. Factors like accessibility, atmosphere, and affordability remain central to our vision, and we look forward to ongoing dialogue with our fans and community partners as we transition into the next stages of design and construction.”

For over a century, the club has played at Old Trafford, which presently accommodates nearly 74,000 spectators. Transitioning to a contemporary venue with an additional 25,000-plus seats and upgraded amenities could usher in a fresh era of prosperity for the Premier League side.
