Real Madrid have secured an unexpected financial boost as Bournemouth close in on a transfer agreement for Elche striker Alvaro Rodriguez.
Los Blancos are anticipated to welcome a multitude of new signings this summer as part of Jose Mourinho’s extensive squad rebuild in the Spanish capital, and the funds generated from Rodriguez’s impending switch to the Premier League will directly supplement his transfer budget.
The 21-year-old netted seven LaLiga goals throughout his debut 2025/26 campaign with Elche, but reports from Marca indicate that Bournemouth have now finalized a €25M deal to bring the forward to the Vitality Stadium, alongside a further €5M in performance-related add-ons.
Rodriguez developed within Real Madrid’s esteemed youth system—memorably scoring his solitary senior goal for the club during a 1-1 Madrid derby draw against Atletico in 2023—before spending the 2024/25 season on loan at Getafe.
Crucially, Real Madrid retained 50% of the player’s economic rights during their permanent sale negotiations with Elche last summer, ensuring they are now poised to pocket a €12.5m upfront fee from the Bournemouth transfer, with a potential €2.5M to follow.
This lucrative agreement marks the second instance this summer where Real Madrid have capitalized on a sell-on clause for a former academy graduate, having previously claimed half of Victor Munoz’s €40M transfer from Osasuna to Liverpool, while also securing a straight €60M fee for selling Nico Paz to Como—strategically maintaining a buyback clause for the Argentine international.
